KATHLEEN WILLIAMS VIRGINIA

Kathleen Williams Virginia graduated from West Genesee High School in 1976 and was employed at NAPA and the Camillus Cutlery Company. She and her husband, Patrick, were married for 21 years. Her daughter, Emily, born in 1985, and son, Jacob, born in 1990, as well as their dad, are now very active in raising money and awareness for research through Carol¡¯s Fund.

After giving birth to her son by C-section a breast lump was discovered and she underwent another surgery: a mastectomy.

Kathleen began a rigorous routine of chemotherapy to combat her breast cancer. During the next ten years Kathy experienced a vast amount of ups and downs, emotionally and physically, but her presence was as bright as ever.

She had several more tumors removed after at least six re-occurrences and a second mastectomy. She was also suffering from lymphodema (swelling of her arm). She was fighting as hard as ever to maintain a normal lifestyle. Slowly, the effects from the years of battling breast cancer became more prevalent. On February 5, 2001 Kathleen¡¯s battle was over.

She may be gone but her spirit will never leave us. The memory of her warm smile and positive attitude will always live on. Kathleen, we miss you.
