ANTOINETTE ¡°TONI¡± ROMANO GOZZI
Antoinette was born on June 7, 1937 in Syracuse and was a graduate of North High School. She was general manager of Rudolf Jewelers downtown for many years, and spent many more as a legal secretary for attorney Don Ball.
Toni was an active volunteer all her life. She was president of Beta Sigma Phi City Counsel and president of Perceptor Alpha Nu, both service sororities. She was volunteer coordinator for WCNY¡¯s Tel-Auc for many years, and she helped coordinate the Village of Solvay¡¯s Centennial Celebration.
Toni was extremely family-oriented and spent most of her free time with her husband of 27 years, Arnold Gozzi and their sons and daughters-in-law Arnold, Shari, Steven and Antoinette Gozzi, their grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Maryanne, and Steven, as well as her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. They all loved her so much.
Among her many hobbies Toni, who was affectionately called ¡°Aunt Nini¡± by her nieces and nephews, was best known for her superb cooking and baking. She also traveled extensively and was an avid bowler and golfer. Another pastime was knitting, a craft she learned from her mother, Teresa. Because of this craft her sister, nieces and close friends organized ¡°Knitting for Nini¡±, an annual knit-a-thon to benefit the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund and the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry.
Toni was a diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2003. She underwent a successful lumpectomy and six rounds of chemotherapy, but was later diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer. Toni died on January 2, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. |
