Throughout the year, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund holds many events to raise money for breast cancer research. All event proceeds stay in Central New York.
Hoops for the Cure - April 24, 2010
This event was organized by Stacy Huntington, a breast cancer survivor. It is held once a year and hosted by Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York. It consists of a 3 on 3 basketball tournament and clinic.
Beach Days For Breast Cancer - June 26, 2010
For this event, the Foundation teams up with the Town of Camillus at Gillie Lake in Camillus to provide a day of fun for the families and supporters of women with breast cancer. Participants enjoy rides, games, and a classic car show. There are also fireworks at the end of the day.
New York State Fair - August 26, 2010 through September 6, 2010
Each year during the 12 days of the New York State Fair, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund has a booth in the Empire Building. The booth is easy to locate underneath the 30 foot breast cancer ribbon hanging from the ceiling. Volunteers staff the booth from 9 am until 10 pm each day, selling breast cancer ribbons, t-shirts and other merchandise. Carol spends several hours at the booth each day, talking to individuals suffering from breast cancer, survivors, and families of women that lost their struggle.
Carol M. Baldwin Golf Tournament - September 12, 2010
The Carol M. Baldwin golf tournament is held at the Turning Stone Casino golf courses and it is one of the biggest and most prominent tournaments in the area. This all day event brings corporate sponsors from all over Central New York together with survivors and other supporters. The tournament is followed by a dinner at The Turning Stone.
Ride for Research - September 19, 2010
A light-hearted fund raising event, the Ride for Research offers a chance for Central New York motorcycle enthusiasts to show their support for breast cancer research. A highlight of this event is seeing Carol in her pink motorcycle helmet. This year's event will start and end at the Dinosaur Barb-B-Que, 246 West Willow Street, Syracuse.
Paddle for the Cure - September 25, 2010
Each year, the Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company in Old Forge, New York sponsors a paddle to raise funds for the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. The paddle is approximately six miles long. It travels down the slow-moving flat water of the Moose River, winding through the beautiful Adirondack mountains. There is one short carry with an easy trail around a rock garden. It is a great trip whether you are a first time paddler, or have years of experience. More details. and how to register.
